Some lovely pictures of our Gosforth residents playing a game of guess who. Residents were shown several pictures of famous people from the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s and had to guess who they were.

The residents have really enjoyed this activity, telling staff what they know about them, which in turn has brought about good conversations.

Congratulations to Vivien and Dennis, two of our residents at Gosforth, who celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on the 28th April 2020. The chef made them a lovely cake and they received a Skype call from their son.

The gentleman sat on the left side of the sign is Stuart, retired GP.

Doris, 105, on the right side of the sign, worked at Newcastle RVI before the NHS was even created. She worked on the infectious diseases ward, on the children’s ward and also became a sister. Here she is acknowledging the role of the NHS during the current coronavirus pandemic.

Its all fun and games at our home in Gosforth. Home administrator, Janet, has challenged our residents asking them to make as many words as possible from the letters TRANSPORTATION. Not all the papers are in yet – stay tuned for the winner!

The residents have also been playing a game called ’49 questions’. They have been having fun picking out questions from the box and talking about the subject. For example Hilda picked out ‘what was your cheapest holiday?’ To which she replied an all inclusive holiday to Switzerland in 1953 which was £30.00 and that included the cost of the flight! Wow!

Joshua Abrahams is a teacher at Whitley Bay High School. He saw a video a couple of weeks ago and got in touch as he was keen to come along to entertain our residents at our home in Whitley Bay. The residents enjoyed the performance from the home whilst Joshua performed outside.
